Texas Can Lead the Way in Health & Opportunity

In the Lone Star State, we take pride in being first. But today, more Texans live without health coverage than in any other state. This isn't just a health statistic, it affects our families' financial security, the strength of our workforce, and the stability of our local clinics and hospitals.

Coalition for Coverage

This Partnership exists to help Texas move beyond its status as the most uninsured state by opening doors to affordable, reliable, and meaningful healthcare for all Texans. Guided by clear data and a shared commitment to fairness, we aim to reduce chronic disease, ease financial burdens, and support healthier and more productive communities across Texas.

The American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network have worked together in states across the country to support efforts that improve access to health coverage for millions of Americans. Building on that experience, the two organizations are coming together once again in Texas to support Texas-based organizations working to improve access to healthcare.

By bringing their national experience, resources, and relationships into alignment with local partners, the organizations help elevate shared priorities, strengthen coordination, and support community-led efforts across the state. This collaboration is focused on reinforcing local leadership and ensuring Texas communities have the tools, information, and attention needed to move health coverage forward.

Texas currently ranks 50 out of 50 in the nation for health coverage. When hard-working Texans lack access to care, the costs don’t disappear, they shift to our emergency rooms, our employers, and our taxpayers.

The Texas Partnership for Health Access is a non-partisan coalition of business, faith, health, and community leaders. We are looking for a Texas-made solution that works for our unique economy. Many other states, including those with similar values to ours, have already implemented practical ways to close the coverage gap. It’s time for Texas to move off the bottom of the list and provide our citizens with the same stability found elsewhere in the country.

The Texas Partnership for Health Access is an evolving collaboration of state and national leaders dedicated to practical health coverage solutions. Currently anchored by the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network and the American Heart Association, we are joined by an array of Texas-based organizations, business leaders, and community advocates.

We are building a unified voice to move Texas off the bottom of the rankings for health coverage. Our approach is collaborative, non-partisan, and focused on what works for the unique needs of our state.

We are currently inviting organizations to help inform our strategy and share their expertise as we develop a formal structure for this Partnership. Whether your organization is ready to lead or prefers to provide background expertise, we welcome your perspective.
